World of Tanks Mods & Addons
March 9 edited So I’ve been skimming through Wargaming’s patents that deal with the functioning of the MM as you do. We’ve had a conversation with a clanmate a few weeks back regarding how winrates factor into the matchmaking one sees in the game. I’d seen the patents regarding this before so I wanted to refresh my memory, but this time I’ve seen a couple other interesting factors as well.
So I wanted to share them with you. Algorithms that determine winrate:

Yeh, but, are those games your changing the result of because your playing well? Might be, or could just be the other team were just that bit worse and you think it was down to you. Well you play the same most games, I mean look at the games when you play exceptionally well but lose game after game. Nothing to do with the way you play, just your team were bad.

Calibration phase duration is 10 games each for solo or team Two ratings, solo and team Entry requirement: Even if players cover the entry requirement, they might not opt-in to play ranked. So, the ranked distribution landscape is completely different as a result. Distributions The blog post gave us the distribution numbers for unranked. There is no reason for me to doubt them. They are the following: However, as Valve says in the blog post, we don’t know the distribution for ranked.
But, hey, the rating is visible, if we gather enough samples we can work it out.

Matchmaking. The composition of tanks in each team is a task of matchmaker. It works in following manner. It takes one tank from the queue and looks at his tier.
That’s 6M paying customer, in the same league as WoW, despite much smaller developer budget. The only gameplay is going to the field and battle enemy tanks, head on. PvP games are killed by the “PvP spiral”: World of Tanks is probably the only game out there that is not affected by it. Of course the developers can tinker with the matchmaking system to give both teams equally strong players as opposed to tanks , so the bad ones are carried by good ones.
However it’s just annoying but not a fix:
StarCraft Anthology won’t get matchmaking after all
February 26, In my opinion, you haven’t followed the rabbit hole deep enough before introducing this. I worry that there will be a couple of outcomes if this program becomes widely adopted: An unhealthy amount of good players will eventually hide their stats in order to avoid XVM-sniping. Even for a good player, being constantly tunnel-visioned by aircraft or much of the enemy team is a big detriment, and having a blue or purple tag on MMM will do that.

A Closer Look at How World of Tanks Was Intentionally Created To those who haven’t been with the game for too long, this piece is here to enlighten you about how Wargaming operates as a company. Generally when people suggest the game being rigged, or that the matchmaker is out to get them, or anything like that, they quickly get shot down by the giant army of Wargaming fanboys.
This isn’t to say that those claims are true per se, but there’s a significant lack of reason amongst many of the diehard World of Tanks players. There are certain topics that, when brought up on the forums or elsewhere, they bring in all the trolls and the original poster is basically laughed away from the game. It’s these topics which I will now discuss in detail. The Early Days Back in closed beta and the days of the game’s release , it was particularly obvious that World of Tanks was a very fun, creative, and new take on a player versus player game.
There simply wasn’t anything like it, and this drew many big-time gamers in. It was also very obvious that, if you were to get drawn into the game and start spending money, you could spend a great deal indeed. The very clever thing that Wargaming did in beta was giving everyone free gold, every single day.
Vehicle loadout packages, equipment, consumables Nationalities Crews Player skill levels When creating a battle, the matchmaker first looks to place eligible large Platoons players , followed by artillery and then light tanks with scout matchmaking. After this criterion is met, other players are selected to fill the remaining positions, keeping the team’s weight balanced as closely as possible.
If the matchmaker struggles to meet the requirements for an eligible match, it eases up on the rules to avoid players spending too much time in the queue.

Premium Tanks Understanding About Premium Tanks Every nation has a Premium tank, and they may be in the category of light, medium and heavy tank. Currently there are no premium tanks for tank destroyers, and SPG. Premium tanks don’t need to be researched. You just buy them with gold. There’s also nothing to research on a premium tank. It automatically achieves Elite Status the moment you buy it. But everything is stock and nothing is upgradeable.
The suspension, engine, radio, turret, gun are all fixed non upgradeable. You can however install optional modules just like any other tank. Some premium tanks are quite expensive, and others not so. Prices range from gold for the American T2 light tank tier 2 light at the cheapest, and goes up to 12, gold for the priciest Lowe tier 8 heavy. Given that they are paid with gold, not all premium tanks perform as well in battle.
Because the gun is non-upgradeable, its usually a smaller caliber for a tank in its class. Take the Churchill for example.
I wrote that I have the hunch of World of Tanks being a rigged game, where via matchmaking, tinkering with penetration and probably hit chances and damage numbers the developers guarantee that everyone remains close to the average in terms of kills and wins, so no one quits either because of “too easy”, nor “im pwned by nolifers lol”. The title is misleading because I still don’t and can’t have a real proof.
What I have is something that very much correlate to my theory and has one alternative explanation only: My girlfriend and me started new accounts.
Feb 20, · This matchmaking systems works the same as the general matchmaking system. Players can be drafted into the sandbox matchmaking system if they have tier 1,2 or 3 ships AND if their account level is lower than 6.
As you can imagine, I recieved literally dozens of e-mails over last couple of months, inviting me to try War Thunder not only Ground Forces, just War Thunder in general. I resisted for quite some time, but about a month ago, I was like… fuck it, I should try it after all — and I got to try it today. Trying it is one thing, writing about it another matter. I still am not, but what the hell, right? Anyway, my reluctance obviously comes from my position. This is a World of Tanks blog.

It is an opportunity for us to reflect on the language and ideas that represented each year. So, take a stroll down memory lane to remember all of our past Word of the Year selections. Change It wasn’t trendy , funny, nor was it coined on Twitter , but we thought change told a real story about how our users defined Unlike in , change was no longer a campaign slogan. But, the term still held a lot of weight.
Here’s an excerpt from our Word of the Year announcement in The national debate can arguably be summarized by the question: In the past two years, has there been enough change? Has there been too much? Meanwhile, many Americans continue to face change in their homes, bank accounts and jobs. Only time will tell if the latest wave of change Americans voted for in the midterm elections will result in a negative or positive outcome.

Prev Game mechanics Damage We know how to fire and how to inflict damage, but we still do not know what the factors on view range are and how to spot an enemy. In this chapter I’ll try to explain this briefly. First term describes a distance, from which we are able to see a tank model in the game. This value can be changed in game options and if your computer is powerful enough, I suggest setting it to high.
New Video – Explaining Mechanics: Matchmaker. General News Discuss on Forum. Tankers! Ever wondered how World of Tanks selects your allies and enemies each time you join a battle? This video will show you what goes on behind the scenes. One thing’s for sure, it’s definitely not an easy task!
Monsoon in a Mug about Matchmaking One of the occasional entertainments about World of Tanks are the conspiracy theories. Even if I am over-egging the custard a little, I speak not entirely in jest. Conspiracy theories and game companies are nothing new — after all I cut my teeth in online gaming in EVE Online and if there is one company that is effective and breeding conspiracy theories it is CCP.
However cynical I am, and I think an all-embracing study of history has perhaps left me more cynical than most, I also retain a certain scepticism. When a company does something to make money, for example, it is not some sinister scheme — it is a company doing what it is supposed to. One area of World of Tanks that is a fertile breeding ground for conspiracies is the matchmaker. The matchmaker is a very poorly understood feature of World of Tanks. Ever since I have started playing the game I have heard people claim that the matchmaker is rigged, usually against them, often to inflict poor teams on them.
A second area of the game is the random number generate, which effects such things as where in the aiming circle you shot actually lands, its damage, and its penetration.
